What is B2B Data?

B2B data lists refer to curated collections of business-related information, gathered and organized for use in direct marketing.

These lists include business details such as company names, contact information, industry classifications, and more. They provide you with targeted, ready-to-use resources to reach specific businesses that align with your objectives.

By leveraging B2B data lists, you can save valuable time and effort that would otherwise be spent on manual research. These lists enable you to identify potential leads, explore new markets, and expand your network, all with a simple click.

Moreover, B2B contact lists empower you to personalize your outreach efforts. Armed with valuable insights, you can tailor your messages and offerings to suit the needs and preferences of your target audience. This personalization enhances your chances of establishing meaningful connections and generating fruitful business relationships.

It’s important to note that business lists are compiled using various sources, including public records, industry directories, and business registrations. However, working with reputable providers who prioritize data accuracy and adhere to privacy regulations is crucial.

At Data Bubble, we strive to equip you with the resources necessary to make the most of business contact lists. Read on or contact us for tips, best practices, and updates on how to leverage these powerful tools to drive your business forward.

The Benefits of buying in B2B data

First and foremost, buying B2B data saves you valuable time and resources.

Instead of spending countless hours manually gathering potential leads and their contact information, you can purchase a reliable B2B data source that provides you with a ready-to-use database. This allows you to focus on what you do best: growing your business.

Moreover, business data lists enable you to target your efforts with precision. This targeted approach maximizes your chances of connecting with the right prospects and increases conversion rates.

In addition, buying contact lists enables you to quickly expand your reach. It exposes you to new markets and opportunities you may have overlooked. Establish new partnerships, explore untapped segments and expand your customer base, make informed decisions and save admin time and money.

How To Buy B2B Data - Read The E-Book

WHO ARE YOUR CURRENT CLIENTS?

This might seem obvious, but the best starting place is knowing who your existing clients are.

By that, I don’t mean names – knowing that you sell to Andy at ABC Ltd and Debs at XYZ Ltd won’t help – I mean the demographic…

What criteria are there for B2B database selections

  • Industry. This is by directory description, or Standard Industry Code (SIC code)

  • Company Size. The number of employees (on-site or nationally), or by the company’s turnover

  • Location. Select by postcode, county, country, or even radius of a location

  • Turnover. The last turnover figure recorded at companies house

  • Contact within the company. Business Owner, Director, Sales, Marketing, IT, HR etc.

If you need a speciality database, there are other selection criteria available. For example, the fleet database allows you to select the number of vehicles in the fleet and the type of fleet i.e. cars, vans, or trucks.

What to do with your existing database

Make sure you exclude your existing database when buying new data (you don’t want to buy data you already hold!) Because we are a thorough data broker, we will ask for your exclusion file to ensure duplicates, unsubscribes and existing customers / prospects are excluded.

Quality Data is Paramount

Good quality data is paramount when conducting a direct marketing campaign. We recommend you should ask your data supplier for answers to the following questions, along with our rationale for asking them:

Our Quality Guarantee

Data Bubble gives a no-quibble guarantee on all the data we provide.

Peace of Mind – Besides being ICO registered (as you’d expect), you also have additional reassurances by our ISO 9001 Certification and our Cyber Essentials Certification. Furthermore, we are members of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and we adhere to the Data and Marketing Association’s Code of Conduct.

General Data Protection Regulations & Data Protection Act (2018) – All our suppliers provide evidence on how their data has been gathered, processed and supplied in a GDPR & DPA compliant manner. This evidence is verified annually, to ensure ongoing compliance.

GDPR compliant Data

Data must be gathered, processed and supplied in accordance with GDPR and current legislation. Make sure to be certain that it is!

How is the data collected?

Most business data comes from the likes of Companies House, Credit Reference Agencies and business directories. However, sometimes it is gathered from publicly available information. If the latter, make sure all steps have been taken to ensure compliance, as being publicly available doesn’t necessarily mean it’s ok for marketing purposes.

…and how is your data verified?

Data is often collected and verified using telephone calls and emails. If anything is different, you should definitely do more due diligence.

Things to consider when buying B2B sales data:

What size is your entire business database? – This ensures you are getting a true representation of the total number of records available.

How frequently is your data updated? – Data should be updated on an ongoing basis, with updates being applied anywhere from daily to monthly. Avoid databases that have not been updated for over 12 months.

Are phone numbers screened against TPS / CTPS files? – If phone numbers are being supplied, check that this process is carried out. That way, you know you can call them without getting into trouble.

What are Data Licences?

Many B2B lists are supplied on a 12-month contract, which means you can work the data for a year. During that period, a prospect becomes yours to own if any of these apply:

  • You’re asked for a quote, or you close a sale

  • They request you contact them again in the future

  • They confirm you can keep their details

How to deal with alternative contacts

If a prospect gives you an alternative contact’s details, then that alternative contact is not a party to the data license. However, the original prospect remains subject to the license. After 12 months, the data must be re-licensed or deleted. As such, we always recommend that you keep the prospect list separate from your own database until any of the above instances occur, at which time you can move them into your database. Alternatively, apply a “flag” to the database prior to importing it into your database, so you can easily identify the data source. This will allow you to quickly locate and delete the records once the license expires.

Why choose us as your trusted partner?

Unrivalled Help & Service Levels – We’ll help you find the right data for your campaign, presenting you with options if they exist. Also, and this does set us aside, if we don’t think a campaign will work for you, we’ll tell you!

Free Counts – Data Bubble lets you know how many records are available by providing counts, usually on the same day. These counts can be amended an unlimited number of times, until you get to the right database for you!

Deduplication – We will exclude records that are on your existing databases at no cost, thus ensuring no re-purchasing of data already held.

Fast & Secure – We will send the data to you in an Excel spreadsheet, via our Secure FTP site. We aim to do this within a couple of hours. Occasionally, it can take a little longer, though you would be notified prior to this if that’s the case.
